THE oldest cathedral church building in London played host to a young male choir from a Marlow church.
Southwark Cathedral was the setting for All Saints' Church choristers as they performed as stand ins for the resident choir during their holiday.
It is believed the site has had a church since the early seventh century.
All Saints' Director of Music, Martin Seymour has encouraged more young singers to come and join, highlighting the rare opportunity, which came about in January.
He said: "This was an amazing opportunity for the boys and men to sing in such an historic building and a beautiful acoustic.
“Great team work and leadership was required and they rose to the challenge.
“I organized for the choristers to sing with the boys choir from Reading Minster on this occasion and the social side of the choir is just as important as the first class music education that they benefit from."
The girls' choir celebrates its tenth anniversary this year.
