A COFFEE shop in Marlow was robbed this morning by a man using what is believed to be an electrical taser-style weapon.

At 7.52am, a man wearing a motorcycle helmet walked into Café Copia in High Street and produced the suspected weapon which he used to threaten a member of staff.

The man forced the employee to open a safe and escaped with a quantity of cash.

The offender is described as white, of large build and about 5ft 4ins. He was wearing a blue motorcycle helmet and a navy blue padded jacket. He left via the store’s back door which leads into a car park.

Det Insp Sharon Hill, of Force CID, said: “This was clearly a frightening ordeal for the members of staff who were in the shop at the time, but thankfully no-one was hurt during the robbery.

“We have launched a full investigation and have committed resources into finding the offender.

“We are appealing for anyone who saw a man fitting the above description in the area before or following the robbery to come forward.

“I would also like to speak to anyone who saw a reddish brown motorbike in the area between 7.30am and the time of the incident.”

If you can help, please call Det Sgt Richard Earl at High Wycombe CID, via the 24-hour Police Enquiry Centre on 101.

If you don't want to speak directly to the police you can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or online at crimestoppers-uk.org. No personal details are taken, information is not traced or recorded and you will not go to court.
