Three counties prepare for Queen's visit

The Queen The Queen

THERE will be 4,000 guests at a garden party with the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh on Monday in Henley.

The Three Counties Diamond Jubilee Garden Party will be held at the Henley Business School.

More than a quarter of the guests are members of the public from Bucks, Berks and Oxfordshire who entered a public ballot.

The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh's visit will start with a 15 minute river pageant which tells the story of the River Thames and the prosperity the river has brought to the Thames Valley.

There will also be displays from museums and businesses from across the three counties.

A Jubilee Fund has been set up to raise money for the four Community Foundations in the area, which support projects that engage people in the three counties. Music will be played throughout the afternoon and the menu is based on a traditional English Garden Party and will be served on Ice Tables, which have been designed to keep the food at an optimum temperature.

Pupils from Danesfield School in Marlow and two schools in Oxfordshire and Berks will line the drive as the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh leave.
