A 75-YEAR-old man died after he collided with a wall during a game of racketball.

James Heffron from The Retreat, Princes Risborough was playing the game with his friends at the Wycombe Squash and Racketball Club in Clay Lane, Booker on May 19.

Norman Peckett told the inquest at Beaconsfield Coroner's Court he was playing a game with Mr Heffron, who had turned to take a shot when he lost his balance.

Mr Heffron fell into the wall next to the court and landed on his side.

Mr Peckett carried out CPR, but said there was no response from his friend.

The ambulance service attended and took him to Wycombe Hospital, where they managed to resuscitate him, but he died on May 23.

The inquest yesterday heard Mr Heffron sustained a injury to the top of the spine, which rendered him into cardiac arrest and meant there was no blood supply to the brain, which led to extensive loss of brain function.

The coroner Richard Hulett recorded a verdict of accidental death.
