ART work is adorning the fence at a park in Princes Risborough by artists from the town.

Work by six artists has been printed onto boards and displayed on the fence next to the railway track at Wades Park in Stratton Road.

The idea came from Princes Risborough Town Councillor, Iain McLauchlan, who saw it through to completion.

He said: "We have a wealth of artistic talent in Princes Risborough. I thought it was about time we recognised and promoted that talent in the town."

It is hoped this will be the first of many exhibitions in the town.

One of the artists, Gillian Standing, 20, said: "It is good to see it on a big scale next to other art works, especially in my home town."

She is currently studying illustration at the Hereford College of Arts and has one year left.

Her piece on display is called The Deal and Hui Jing and is digital art based on her jewellery.

Stuart Clough, 47, is an illustrator from Longwick who had his butterfly art work on display.

He was made redundant two years ago and has been working freelance ever since including paintings, commissions, organising art exhibitions and teaching.

Stuart said: "It is great for the area and adds a bit of culture to the place"

Caroline Page, 62, from Lacey Green who works at Commercial Square Studios in High Wycombe and currently has a pop up shop in Marlow with other studio artists had her The Mother of Cities piece on display.

She said :"Art is something I love doing. It looks absolutely wonderful.

"It really does look good. It adds another dimension to the place."

Hazel Williams, 37, from Princes Risborough who specialises in laser art had a piece based on red kites on display.

The other two pieces are Libby Jones The Chiltern Bride and The Goose Herder by Helen Craig.

Mayor Alan Turner said it was a brilliant idea put into fruition by Cllr McLauchlan.

He said: "He saw it through from start to finish. Let's hope it is the beginning of a very long event which we can hold each year and watch it grow."
