POLICE in Risborough have started a new operation due to the rise in shed and outhouse burglaries.

Operation Garfish aims to raise awareness of this type of crime and to encourage people to be more vigilant with the security of their sheds and the belongings stored inside.

The services of a Roads Policing proactive team were also secured and several plain vehicles with automatic number plate recognition technology patrolled highlighted roads and areas in the search for criminals that are targeting the area.

Three arrests have also been made in connection with these crimes and an off road motor cycle, two expensive cycles, electrical garden equipment and a small amount of cannabis has been recovered.

Two of the people arrested are currently on police bail while the investigation into the crimes continues and the third was released without charge due to the lack of evidence.

The PRNPT are struggling to reunite suspected stolen property to their rightful owners due to serial numbers not being recorded or the item being property marked.

Officers have urged the public to document serial numbers or property mark their property. You can add serial numbers to the immobilise website at www.immobilise.com.
