ONE of the biggest events in Bucks is taking place this weekend which will see cars zoom up the Kop Hill Climb.

The annual event was reintroduced in 2009 in Princes Risborough and has become very popular with more than 15,000 spectators.

Last year alone it raised more than £50,000 for charity and more than 400 historic cars and bikes took part.

This year, to commemorate Paddy Hopkirk’s 50th anniversary of his 1964 Monte Carlo Rally victory, High Wycombe charity SKIDZ will be offering two visitors the chance to join with Paddy on the Kop Hill run in his replica mini 33EJB.

To win submit your ‘best bid’ in a silent auction being held all this week (until Friday at 12pm) at www.skidz.org.uk.

Two winners will be contacted shortly after, confirming their place with Paddy on the Saturday and Sunday.

You can also visit Paddy’s replica of the iconic, winning red Mini Cooper, where it will be displayed at the SKIDZ stand. Paddy will also be signing autographs and his books on the Saturday.

A McLaren P1, the hybrid hyper car, will also ascend the famous Kop Hill.

With its 727bhp twin-turbo V8, 176bhp electric motor, all-carbon construction, and ability to generate 600kg of downforce, the McLaren P1 will be the most powerful car participating.

Those with families seeking something more light-hearted can enjoy a wide range of children’s entertainments including a vintage steam carousel, Racing Bug racetrack, climbing wall and the Kop Hill Climb Soapbox Challenge.

Advanced day (£8 adult, children under 12 free) weekend (£15) and grandstand (£5 per session) tickets for the 2014 Kop Hill Climb are available online at www.kophillclimb.org.uk or from the local Princes Risborough Information office. Tickets on the day £10 and half day £5.

Spectator gates open at 9am on Saturday and Sunday and runs up Kop Hill are from 9.45am to 1pm and 2 to 5.15pm.
