Residents who are fed up of speeding drivers in Princes Risborough road are calling for new signs to go up around the entrances to warn them of pedestrians.

Gordon Lenton, whose dog was killed on Icknield Way by a motorbike in June, said: “We don’t seem to have any signs up there to warn people that you are mixing people and vehicles.

"It should be put there to warn drivers.”

The byway, which has a 60mph speed limit, does not allow vehicle access between November 1 and May 1.

Mr Lenton said: “When the car users are allowed to go down there, it’s our busiest time with walkers and cyclists.

"To me and a lot of other people, motorcycles, cars and four-by-fours seem to have no consideration for anybody in that part of the byway.”

Buckinghamshire County Council is responsible for rights of way in the area.

Mr Lenton added: “They have an obligation to warn drivers that there are also people and horses.”

Councillor Alan Turner said: “Personally, I think signs should go up warning drivers that there are walkers and horses using the road too. The town council has written to rights of way asking if that would possible.”
