An annual remembrance service for lost loved-ones attracted a record-breaking crowd this year.

Residents were invited to remember and celebrate the lives of their loved ones at the Princes Risborough Tree of Light ceremony on Sunday, November 30.

Nearly 500 people attended the service, which was held in the gardens next to the Tesco roundabout, on the corner of Duke Street and New Road.

The event was organised by the Rotary Club of Princes Risborough to raise vital funds for Rennie Grove Hospice Care and Rotary charities, and he record-breaking crowd means this year’s donations are expected to top £5,000.

The service was led by James Tomkins, vicar of St Dunstan’s Church in Monks Risborough and the lights were switched on by Wally Woolf, Deputy Chairman of the Town Council.

Trevor Fitch, Rotary President, said: “The opportunity to remember loved ones in such a worthwhile way at this special time of year has become a much appreciated feature in the town in the build up to Christmas.”

The dedications will be displayed close to the tree, which will remain lit until the end of December, and will be published in the Bucks Free Press in January.

Dedication Forms are available from the Princes Risborough Information Centre and dedications can be made until the end of the year.

The popular annual event has been running for the last seven years and has raised more than £28,000 for good causes.
