A public meeting will be held next week to discuss the future of development in Longwick.

Residents will be updated on future housing development plans in the village at the meeting on January 13.

The meeting will begin at 8pm in Longwick village hall.

Wycombe District Council planning officers will give a presentation to update residents on their progress to meet housing targets in the district.

Residents and Parish councillors are concerned that Longwick is vulnerable to speculative planning applications in order to meet housing targets and comply with the Local Plan.

More information will be given about a potential Neighbourhood Plan for the whole or part of the Longwick-cum-Ilmer Parish, which the Parish council, residents and businesses would consult on to help shape the future of the village.

This would allow the community to agree a framework for development, subject to certain conditions such as improved public transport. Longwick-cum-Ilmer Parish Council have made an application to designate the village as a Neighbourhood Area, but is not committed to preparing a plan at this stage.

Wycombe District planning officers will also show residents a map of provisional sites around the village for potential housing developments.

Response to a consultation in October last year suggested that residents would prefer several small sites for new housing, rather than one large site.

Longwick-cum-Ilmer Parish Council is urging residents to attend the meeting to learn more about the future of the village and put their views forward.
