Gritters ready but heavy snow set to stay away
TRANSPORT chiefs have hailed the work of its staff and have “no concerns” about keeping motorists moving should more snow descend on Bucks.
Between four and five inches of the white stuff hit the south of the county last weekend but the gritters managed to keep the main roads moving.
More than half of readers who took part in a poll on the Bucks Free Press website felt Transport for Buckinghamshire had carried out a better job this time around then in comparison to previous snow-hit winters.
TfB’s Tim Fowler said: “Our teams worked hard from when snow was forecast, making plans to ensure as much could be done to keep roads safe.”
And the council body is ready to rumble with the weather once again – with weatherman Jim Dale predicting a “light dusting” of snow tonight.
He said previous forecasts of several inches of snow should be kept at bay by the low temperatures, with the worst of the weather missing the M40 corridor.
But the expert from Hazlemere-based British Weather Services warned freezing fog and temperatures as low as minus ten could blitz Bucks this weekend.
Mr Fowler said he had “no concerns” about salt levels, with Potholes being repaired if they are deemed to be dangerous.
TfB spokesman Laura-Jo Stocks said: “Our We're Working On It capital maintenance programme will start once the weather improves as we cannot repair large sections of roads in such low temperatures.
“Potholes will still be repaired if they are classed as requiring an emergency repair and these should be reported in the usual way through our website or contact centre.”

gritters where. the london rd was a ice rink from 1030pm till 330am no gritters was seen

if you leave it for hours on end it will build up
