Census 2011: Population in south Bucks up almost six percent Census 2011: Population in south Bucks up almost six percent

SOUTH Buckinghamshire’s population increased by almost six percent during the last ten years, according to new census data released today.

The combined population of the Wycombe, Chiltern and South Bucks districts now stands at 331,200.

There are 171,700 people living in the Wycombe district, which is an increase of 9,595 people from a decade ago.

The Chilterns has gained 3,372 new residents in the last ten years, with the population count ticking over to 92,600 people.

And there are now 66,900 people living in the South Bucks district, which is a rise of 4,995 people since the last survey in 2001.

The overall population of England and Wales shot up by 3.7 million people to 56.1 million.

Buckinghamshire’s population is 505,300.

People were asked to complete a compulsory form asking a host of questions - including age, gender, education, health, job titles, ethnic background and national identity - in March last year.

The results of the census will be used to plan public services.

Apparently flies have had a very bad summer.

Due to the weather they have not been breeding like they usually do. So it's bad news for the all birds and spiders.

I agree. Personally we could solve two problems in one go. Limit child benefit to just the first two children. I appreciate the cost of raising the first but the subsequent costs are much reduced with re-use of clothing etc. It would help prevent the steady increase population and reduce the benefit costs.

What we should be doing is stopping immegration altogether (except, for example, people brining businesses into the country that would provide jobs) and making the 'ususal suspects' of whom survive soley on benefits, do any job they are capable of doing and so reduce the huge amount of money being spent on benefits for a start. Once again, this is a sketchy report based on a national news piece. It would be good to have hard facts on the changes that have occurred in Wycombe over the past decade.
I believe that along with immigration we have seen a rise in births (although from personal experience there are just as many parents deciding to not have children due to childcare costs which could prove costly to our crime system in a few years). We are also seeing the health of our elderly improve with the average mortality age being 83 in a report in 2009. And, how many families moved in to take advantage of the school system, jobs and the like versus those who moved out of the area? Figures please!

Our England has not disappeared there are still some of us proud to be English, who celebrate St. Georges day, who are moved by the sacrifices made in wars past (but not present) who teach our children the true values of being english. The values of honesty, good manners, and not treading on the underdog in order to better ourselves, in fact supporting the underdog. These values haven't been taken away by immigration, the unemployed, or any of the 'usual suspects'. They were taken away by lying cheating politicians,who do nothing unless it lines their own pockets.It was taken away by Bankers who have cheated the country out of Billions and expected us the tax payer to bail them out when their dodgy bets went wrong, but mostly it was given away by a population who were too apethetic, too greedy or too busy watching big brother or the x factor to do anything about it until it was too late. So you crack on, mourn the loss of your England,blame every one except yourself, I will still celebrate England,my Lionheart, and be grateful i was born here and no where else.

I was born in England, think of my self as English and if anyone asks me what country I live in I will answer "England" just as my mum would have answered "Scotland". But, and its quite a big 'but', I also recognise there is a bigger picture to it all and geographically England, Great Britain, the UK, is part of Europe. Our culture is european. My ethnicity is european.

England is a great place to live (thats why a lot of people want to live here) but so are a lot of other places.

But, and its quite a big 'but', I also recognise there is a bigger picture to it all and geographically England, Great Britain, the UK, is part of Europe. Our culture is european. I think you may have misunderstood my post,I'm not striving to return to the way things were,I support no 'nationalistic' view of England,I don't recognise these perfect days of which you speak.
