POLICE broke up fighting between up to 40 youths in Southfield Road in Princes Risborough.

Officers were called after several youngsters were said to have attempted to get into a private party in the road.

Youths – some with minor cuts – are understood to have been pursued by another group of young men, and were trying to seek refuge in the house where the party was being held. They were not let in.

Violence broke out in the street and some car windscreens were damaged.

Police now plan to step up patrols around Southfield Road this weekend.

Sergeant Annie Dunbar, from Princes Risborough police station, said: “On Saturday evening, an incident occurred following a private party that was held in the Field Estate, Princes Risborough.

“A group of uninvited youths from outside the area attended the party and some property was damaged after an altercation.

“Police attended the incident immediately and several arrests were made.”

She added that investigations were ongoing, and said high-visibility patrols were being increased to discourage more violence.

About 30 to 40 people, aged about 15–20 years-old, were involved around the Southfield Road area, said police.

Harnam Sanghara, who runs the Premier Sanghara Stores in nearby Woodside Road saw injured youngsters approach his shop at about 9.30pm.

He said: “Three lads from Risborough came up here with heads slashed and blood coming out. I phoned for police and ambulance.

“They said it was nothing to do with the party – it was just out of the blue.”

“I was shocked – I was here doing my work. It’s a nice place here you don’t expect that sort of thing.”

Stuart Craik, Chief Inspector for Wycombe, said: “One person suffered minor injuries on Saturday night – a 14-year-old boy.”

He added more arrests were made in a disturbance involving 20 youngsters at Aylesbury railway station on Sunday night, which was thought to be linked.
