A DOG waiting for a new home in Stokenchurch Dog Rescue’s kennels will have a big day in the national spotlight next Monday when he appears on ITV1’s Paul O’Grady Show.

Puddles' appearance is likely to put him in line for lots of new home offers and also for the other dogs back in Stokenchurch.

The collie cross terrier is only 11 weeks old, white and short haired.

When he arrived at the rescue kennels a week ago the welfare staff found he was deaf and so anyone adopting him will be assessed to ensure they understand his needs.

Paul O’Grady, a keen dog lover who led the recent TV series about Battersea Dogs Home, will be featuring dogs from rescue centres in Monday’s show.

Welfare staff at Stokenchurch had a tough task deciding which dog among 50 in their kennels, should go to London. Puddles will be accompanied by Joyce Marriott, SDR’s chairman, and Claire Cassell, dog carer.

"It should be exciting for us all and gives a big hope that there will be a lot of people interested in adopting Puddles and the other dogs on the show, plus of course the dogs back in Stokenchurch," said Mrs Marriott.

"Also, to make Puddles’ future all the better I think we would prefer that he is rehomed to an understanding family with older children and possibly another dog which could be a bit of a role model for him."
