The family of a housewife who was murdered at her home in a south Buckinghamshire village 20 years ago are expected to speak about the tragedy at a press conference tomorrow.

Friday will mark the 20th anniversary of the unsolved murder of 51-year-old Janet Brown, who died from severe head injuries after being gagged, handcuffed and being repeatedly struck to her head in her home in Radnage.

Her body was discovered at Hall Farm, Spriggs Holly Lane, on the morning of April 11 by a builder and his son, and a wide-scale investigation quickly began with more than 2,700 people interviewed.

Officers have not yet been able to confirm why a press conference is due to be held at Thames Valley Police HQ South in Kidlington, but a similar meeting was held to mark the 10th anniversary in 2005.

At the time, Janet’s children pleaded for anyone who may have information to come forward and stop the heinous crime being committed to another person.

On the night of the murder, Janet – who was a neighbourhood watch co-ordinator – was on her own with her husband away on business in Switzerland.

As investigations began, officers were said to have believed a burglary was the motive behind the attack, but nothing was taken.

The murder rocked the village at the time, and the Bucks Free Press ran a campaign alongside police for information, leading to more than 800 statements being taken.
