A BUDDING costume designer has the opportunity of a lifetime to work with the National Youth Theatre.
Queen’s College student Jessica Orme-Dawson is one of 500 young people out of 5000 that applied across the country to be selected to join the charity.
The National Youth Theatre is an educational centre to help Britain’s young people through the medium of theatre and some of the stars they have helped along the way include Daniel Craig, Helen Mirren, Matt Lucas and David Walliams.
The 17-year-old said her dream would be to get a place at Central Saint Martins University, who design costumes for productions in the West End.
She said: “I have never really known what I’ve wanted to do but soon as I began working alongside the costume designer for my school production, everything seemed to click.
“I just wanted to get so involved and help as much as I could.
“My mum works incredibly hard to put me through this education and without her or the teachers' support I definitely would not have been able to achieve my place.”
Jessica is currently working on the production Dracula with other students making 15 bridesmaids dresses.
She needs to raise around £900 to cover the cost of the course, accommodation and travel.
Jessica has set up a 'wefund' page online. To sponsor her, click here
