CAMPAIGNERS are still hopeful councillors will consider the major impact on two villages if they release land which separates them.

Former greenbelt land Slate Meadow, which currently splits Bourne End and Wooburn Green, could see about 175 homes built on it.

One leading campaigner, Miriam Blazey, said: “Our strongest reason not to release this area from the reserve list is because it serves the purpose of separating Bourne End and Wooburn (Green).

“We have other objections too including the concern of flooding, the roads it would connect to, wildlife, and schools and infrastructure.

“I think, although I don’t know as much about the other sites, Slate Meadow is unique in serving as land to separate two areas, without that we would be joined up.”

She added: “I hope on Monday, they consider all the opposition to this and how the community have shown their support for it not to be developed.

“This is also one of the smaller development options in the reserve sites, but it will still have just as big an impact.

“We have had quite a lot of development in Bourne End already this year, and hopefully that may persuade them it is not a necessity to build there.”

The Save Slate Meadow supporters have worked tirelessly since the Local Plan was released in January to prove their view this was not an appropriate area.

As well as looking into the history and wildlife of the meadow, they have also had banners and t-shirts made as well as starting an e-petition.

The e-petition was signed by 1,273 people and delivered to planning officers at Wycombe District Council earlier this year.
