PLAYERS at Wycombe Wanderers are among the latest to express their disbelief this afternoon after the shock death of Wales manager Gary Speed.

The world of football has been stunned at the announcement that the former Premier League midfielder was found dead at his home aged just 42.

He leaves behind a wife and two children.

Mr Speed had overseen a significant change in fortunes for the Welsh national team in recent times since taking over the role, with a large jump up the FIFA rankings.

Wanderers players have been reacting on Twitter.

Goalkeeper Nikki Bull tweeted: “Shocked to hear news of Gary Speeds death. R.I.P.

"At cinema about to watch Arthur Christmas but all I can think about is Gary Speed can't get my head around him taking his own life so sad."

James Tunnicliffe tweeted: “Such devastating news regarding Gary Speed. So so sad! Rip x”

Anthony Stewart said: “RIP Gary Speed! Can't believe it..# 2maro ain't promised to anyone.

Ex-Player and fans' favourite Sergio Torres said: “I Can't believe this tragic news! #RIP”

The club put out this message on its official Twitter account: “Completely numb at the news of Gary Speed.

“The most heartfelt condolences to his family from everyone at #wycombewanderers. So so sad.”

Top golfer Luke Donald, from High Wycombe, also took to Twitter to comment.

The former Beaconsfield and Hazlemere Golf Club member tweeted: "Very sad news about Gary Speed.

"I've never suffered from depression but have had family that have.

"What a horrible horrible illness #RIPGARY."

Ex-Blues striker Simon church tweeted: "I can't believe it Wat a great man and a true welsh footballing legend a great inspiration to all. "RIP Gary Speed."
