Wycombe Summit 'ski centre' site up for sale

PLANS for a multi-million-pound indoor ski centre to replace the former fire-torn Wycombe Summit site appear to have been placed on ice.

The Abbey Barn Way plot has been put on the market with agents Edward Symmons which has been “instructed to seek offers for the remainder of the 99 year lease”.

The advert states the 76.76 acre site benefits from "detailed planning consent" for an indoor ski complex – which has the “potential for alternative uses, subject to planning”.

It is the latest twist in the saga - throwing the future of mooted plans for a 120m 'real snow' slope, ice rink, shop and restaurant faculty into doubt.

The applicant, Snowdome Ltd, took Wycombe District Council to appeal in 2010 over its decision to refuse a revised 2009 planning application, which included the widening of the building to make way for conference rooms.

The Planning Inspectorate was called in but – at the 11th hour – the firm backtracked and said it would revert to a scaled-back application from 2007, which was originally given the thumbs up by WDC’s planning chiefs.

The original dry ski slope was decimated during a huge blaze which started in the kitchen of the wooden chalet building in 2005.

Hopefully someone will actually re-build the ski centre... I have been emailing Snowdome for a while about this and they never replied.

Snowcentre hemel... you fancy taking a chance? would be awesome to have the slope back in Wycombe

Maybe the council would like to spend some of the Sainburys profit it made from the back hander's from the Green man on the ski site and provide for the teenagers of FH to have somewhere to go,

Look out what price the next thing we hear is that the land will be redesignated for housing and so urban sprawl will spread even further and join up with the Daws Hill site and so on and so on.

the knocking down of the green man was the best thing that could happen it was only a haven for drug pushers and users good ridance to it

The tory Councillors are a load of halfwitts who think they know best, for instants the Green Man public house that was, was built in the 18th centuray, would should have been grade listed and not knocked down, who wants to see neon lights with Sainsburys with their orange and brown logo in the village will look terrible, the planning permission for the ski slope should have gone through its in an area which will not affect anyone or green belt issues, not only that the job prospects for local people is a better option, but as you read its what the council can get out of it to spend on consultantcy fees, as the council do not know how to think for their selves, tory councillors have not got a clue what the public think, jobs and upgrades of old buildings, and more council rented housing needed in high wycombe, red kite what a laugh another company to set up for profiteering Tories are a joke
