Road closure posters to be axed

Road closure posters to be axed Road closure posters to be axed

A4 POSTERS warning motorists about forthcoming road closures are to be scrapped by a council because they offer “little benefit” to road users.

Transport for Buckinghamshire will no longer post A4 notices around sites of upcoming road closures as motorists cannot read them from the road.

Larger signs will be erected in the fortnight prior to road works. TfB will also stop advertising road closures due to street parties in newspapers.

TfB says the changes will save money and staff time.

Buckinghamshire County Council Cabinet member for Planning and Transport Cllr Peter Hardy said: “The previous practice of posting A4 laminated posters had little benefit as they could not be read from the road.

“The new process should mean that adequate information is provided for road users in the most appropriate way.

“TfB will also cease advertising road closures in newspapers in relation to street events. Event organisers will be encouraged to place advance warning signs and this information will be available on our website.

“The changes in these procedures will result in significant cost and time savings, with staff time allocated elsewhere and a reduction in money spent on these notices and advertising.”
