AN OAK will be among 400 trees planted in Marlow to mark the Queen's diamond jubilee this year.
Deputy Marlow Mayor Suzanne Brown aims to get the saplings to coincide with the Royal landmark.
Celebrations will take place nationally between June 2 and 5 to mark 60 years of Queen Elizabeth II's reign.
Cllr Brown has already secured 400 trees for the town, through a scheme run by The Royal Horticultural Society and Woodland Trust to get six million more trees growing around the UK.
Half have been planted at Marlow Sports Club in Pound Lane, with the other 200 set to be planted in Riley Park.
Cllr Brown, who has secured the plants as a resident on behalf of the community parks, said: “The ones that have been planted already are all around the artificial hockey pitch to soften the look for residents.
“When they grow they will provide coverage between the houses and the pitch. They'll also provide colour.
“You get a special pack for the jubilee, which includes an oak tree.”
The trees already planted include a number of varieties such as hazel, rose, birch and cherry.
