YOUNGSTERS were bowled over by former England cricketer Geraint Jones during a coaching session at Cressex Community School.
The ex-England wicketkeeper dropped in at the Holmer Lane-based school with his Kent team-mate Min Patel to pass on his technical tips and experience to about 55 youngsters from the ESM Cricket Academy.
ESM coach Arif Hussain, who is also deputy leader of Wycombe District Council, said: “It was a great day, the youngsters thoroughly enjoyed it.
“We thought it would be good for the children to bring in someone of Geraint’s standing so they could see what it takes to get to that level.
“Geraint took them through the batting and wicketkeeping, and Min did a bit of spin bowling.
“But they also touched on the other side of cricket and top level sport, the dedication, commitment, the attitude, having a healthy diet and they also told the children to concentrate on their education.
“And I think the children took a lot from that, it gave them motivation as they now know from firsthand what is required to play at the highest level.”
