A LACEY Green couple were surprised to discover a racing pigeon homing in on their house.
James and Margaret Walker, who live in Eastlands, were bemused when they found the bird staring in through the glass panel of their door one morning last week.
Mr Walker said: "I was surprised to see it. Since that time I have been feeding it and it just looks lost and lonely and has been sitting on the window ledge. When I opened the door it walked away again."
The lost bird, which is pale grey with dark markings on its wings and a tag on its leg, has stayed around their garden ever since it arrived on August 1, making short trips away but regularly returning.
Mrs Walker said: "I have never seen any racing pigeons before except on TV. We had been watching Robbie Coltrane during the week with racing pigeons on his programme. It just brought it home to us.
"We would need someone with experience to catch her. I would hate to think anything could happen to her."
Mr and Mrs Walker are now hoping to find the owner of the pigeon so that it can be returned to its real home.
