A CAT rescue centre is looking for somebody to take in two abandoned cats that cannot bear to be separated from one another.

Bam Bam, a seven-year-old tabby, and Domino, aged 14, were both handed in to Marjorie Nash Cat Rescue before Christmas after their previous owner could no longer look after them.

But staff at the Amersham rescue centre were told the two cats should be re-homed somewhere they could remain together.

Cindy Bailey, from the rescue centre, said: "We've been told, Please don't split them up'. We could have homed Bam Bam several times over but we can't part them.

"What we are asking for is people who would be willing to take them in as a pair. They come from a good home, they're very good with other cats and are fun with children. They are used to dogs."

However Mrs Bailey warned prospective owners to think long and hard before they took in the abandoned cats, after the centre took in over 100 cats last year.

"If you are going to take a pet, please be sure you can look after and care for it, otherwise this is going to go on and on and we have to pick up the pieces," she said. "People have to think twice about it."

Both cats are male and have been neutered.
