CONSTRUCTION on the new Wycombe Sports Centre will begin on Monday, Wycombe District Council has announced.
The multi-million-pound complex will hold an eight lane 50m pool with a moveable floor and sub-aqua dive pit, as well as a 20m learner pool.
The centre will also host a 150 station gym, dance studio, climbing wall, 12 court sports hall, bowls rink, two squash courts, two meeting rooms and a cafe.
The 10,750m2 rectangular building will be clad in copper and metal panels milled in four different finishes ranging from 'shiny to dull'.
WDC signed an acceptance letter for the building contract last week and construction will being on March 17, the authority tweeted today (see below).
The sports centre is just a part of the overall Handy Cross Hub project - which will also include a food store, a coachway park-and-ride, a hotel and office blocks.
Delighted to announce that work to build the new sports centre at Handy Cross will start on Monday 17 March @handyxhub
