Longstanding Beaconsfield councillor Alan Walters was praised by his colleagues last week after it was announced he had received an MBE for his work within the town.

During a Beaconsfield Town Council Open Spaces meeting, committee chairman Councillor Philip Bastiman congratulated the council leader on his award.

He said: “I would like to formally congratulate Mr Walters on behalf of the town council for your honour.

“I am sure everyone will agree it is thoroughly well deserved for the many years of service you have given the town council, district council and all the organisations you are involved in.”

Following the announcement of his honour, Cllr Walters said he was proud and honoured to receive recognition for his work within the community.

While South Bucks District Council also praised him on Twitter by saying: “Congratulations to Cllr Alan Walters who has been awarded an MBE for his services to the community in Beaconsfield.”
