Gridlocked roads, safety concerns and bad parking could all be erased from villages across the district, with a consultation set to decide where new parking restrictions should be implemented.

Organised by the Chepping Wye Valley group a number of roads in Bourne End, Wooburn Green and Flackwell Heath, are being put under the microscope.

Following complaints from residents, drivers and pedestrians more than 25 roads are being looked at, with suggested parking restrictions currently being consulted on.

Chairman of Chepping Wycombe Parish Council, Katrina Wood, said: “We have decided to have a look at all these roads following comments from residents which were forwarded to the Local Community Partnership.

“These roads have all been suggested because of either safety concerns or inconsiderate parking leading to issues for residents.

“It has taken a long time to come to fruition but we are hoping we will have enough feedback from people to know where restrictions will work and what type of restriction there should be.

“But, these are by no means all going to go ahead. However, with concerns being raised we need to consider new parking restrictions.”

In Bourne End, roads including Claytons Meadow, Hedsor Road, Frank Lunnon Close and Walnut Way have all had suggestions made.

While in Flackwell Heath, Chapel Road, Sedgmoor Road, Rugwood Road and Heath End Road will be examined and The Green and Whitepit Lane in Wooburn will also be looked into.

On some roads, blanket restrictions of no parking at any time have been suggested, while roads often used by commuters will have a no parking ban between 10am and 11am.

Residential roads leading to schools may also have restrictions implemented to stop parking congestion while other roads could soon have new limits because of safety concerns.

Chairman of Bourne End Residents Association, Jim Penfold, thinks the plans could potentially be good for the area if restrictions are enforced successfully.

He said: “Personally, I don’t have many problems with the plans but this is something which people in each road involved needs to consider.

“I agree in some places roads can be dangerous and in particular roads by the [Bourne End Railway] station cars park top to tail in residential roads while the car park remains empty.

“The problem with parking restrictions though is they have to be properly enforced, otherwise dangerous and inconsiderate driving or parking will continue.”

Restrictions have also been suggested for Tylers Green and Hazlemere.
