Fears over a possible reduction in the High Wycombe Park and Ride service have been strongly dismissed by Buckinghamshire County Council.

The relocation of the Park and Ride from Cressex to a new ‘bus hub’ at Handy Cross saw a number of residents contact the Bucks Free Press to express their concerns over a reduction in the service.

However, BCC spokesman Richard Wells has been quick to allay fears saying they are working to ensure the relocation goes smoothly.

He said: “As has long been planned, the Park and Ride site will relocate to Coachway when the new site is available, currently expected in early 2016.

“There are no plans to reduce the level of service on the park and ride and it will continue to operate a frequent and direct service into High Wycombe.

“We have regular meetings with the current bus operator, Arriva, and will be working with them to ensure the relocation goes smoothly.

“At this stage such discussions are with bus company managers, and drivers will be fully briefed at the appropriate time.

“Cressex Island is also served by Service 32, a high frequency commercial service and this will continue to serve its current route unchanged.”
