Two district councils covering the South Bucks and Chiltern areas have appointed a new acting chief executive.

Alan Goodrum is soon to step down from the role he has held for 16 years, and former joint director of services, Bob Smith, will take over the reins.

He said: “I am delighted to have been appointed as acting chief executive and grateful to local members for entrusting me with this position and to my predecessor, Alan, for leaving such an integrated and smooth functioning organisation to work in.

“I am looking forward to building on the excellent working relationships between members and officers.

“I want to ensure we complete the joining up of services across both councils whilst at the same time continuing to ensure we provide excellence and value for money.”

Leader of CDC, Cllr Isobel Darby said: "Bob has vast experience in local government and his considerable talent, drive and ability have been obvious to all who have worked with him so far.

There are some very challenging times ahead and I am confident that Bob and his team are the right people to lead our partnership forward."

Leader of SBDC, Cllr Ralph Bagge, said: "I am delighted that Bob has accepted the role. I believe he has all the attributes to take Chiltern and South Bucks through to the next stage and I am looking forward to working with him.”
