The new Wycombe Leisure Centre has broken records just one week after opening, with more than 15,500 people having reportedly visited it so far.
Gym bosses say they have seen a big increase in footfall and visits after the new £25 million centre was opened last Tuesday, January 5.
The new swimming facilities, including the 50 metre pool, community pool and splashpad have seen a massive increase in use, with family swimming bookings up by 700 per cent over the equivalent time last year at Wycombe Sports Centre.
Junior swimming numbers are up by 82 per cent and adult swimming 60 per cent up.
The sports hall has seen bookings for squash go up by 36 per cent .and people joining aerobics classes up by nearly a quarter (23 per cent) over last year’s figures.
Wycombe District Council cabinet member for community, Cllr Julia Adey, said: “I’m thrilled to find out that so many people have been up to see what’s on offer at the new leisure.
“Whether you’re young or old, a beginner or very advanced in a sport, this centre has something for you.”

Wycombe Wanderers football club used the gym and the pool for training ahead of their match last week and Wycombe District Swimming Club had its first “club night” at the pool during last week’s opening.
Head coach for the club, Kevin Brooks, said: “I’m confident that as well as record levels of local people coming to swim here, we’ll be seeing some new swimming records being set in this pool when we host our prestigious events over the year – welcoming athletes from all over the UK.”
