Community projects in Amersham could win a slice of £9,000 top help their scheme flourish, however the deadline is just around the corner.

Bucks County Council (BCC) has launched ‘Amersham Decides’ – which allows projects around Amersham that “benefit the local community” to bid for a portion of the lump sum.

Projects that involve safeguarding vulnerable people, creating opportunities, building self-reliance and ensuring the county is “thriving and active” are all eligible to apply.

Those leading schemes have until Friday, April 20 to bid for the funding – then the applicants will be whittled down to the finalists.

Previous winners include a group running mental health first aid courses, a pop up cinema and a memory box project at Amersham museum.

County councillor Gareth Williams, who chairs the Amersham Local Area Forum said: “The deadline for submissions is fast approaching but please don’t let that put you off as we can help with any information you need.

“This scheme is great because ultimately local people get to decide themselves how money is spent in their local area, which is what our Local Area Forums are all about.

“We would especially love to hear from new projects so please do get in touch.”
