New residential care home for Marlow
PLANS to build a residential care home in Marlow have been given the thumbs up by council bosses.
A three storey care home is set to be constructed in Little Marlow Road, just off the roundabout junction with the A4155.
It will have 62 care rooms and 16 suites for specialist dementia care, as well as associated parking and landscaping.
Members of Wycombe District Council’s planning committee were full of praise for the scheme and approved it on Wednesday night.
A previous application for an 81-room complex was refused in 2007 as the council felt it was “cramped” and would have a detriment effect on the surrounding area.
Cllr Hugh McCarthy said: “It was an application that wasn’t quite right previously but we now have a result that is acceptable.
“I feel very comfortable with this, it meets a need and as long as the appearance of the building can be designed and reproduced appropriately, it can enhance the area.”
Cllr Katrina Wood added: “I think it will be a beautiful site, it looks to be a great scheme and I am fully in support of it.”

Excellent news -- the damage Dementia and Alzheimer's do to people is horrible and having a new facility for those in need is welcome news!
