"Wycombe terror suspect met plot ringleaders"
HIGH Wycombe terror suspect Assad Sarwar spent a day in East London meeting with two alleged plot ringleaders, a court heard today.
Sarwar, 27, of Walton Drive, Totteridge, was tracked by police officers as he drove to the capital on July 29 2006.
He was spotted meeting with co-defendants Mohammed Gulzar, 26, and Ahmed Abdullah Ali, 27.
On the opening day of the trial at Woolwich Crown Court, prosecutor Peter Wright QC said the three men had "principle responsibility" for the alleged plot.
The court heard today Sarwar left High Wycombe at around 11am, driving his red Nissan Primera, the court heard.
Richard Whittam, prosecuting, told the jury Sarwar drove along the A40 and stopped in Wembley near the Alpertone Sports Ground to make a call from a phone box.
Records of a Lycatel calling card show he called a mobile telephone attributed to Gulzar.
At 12.30pm he parked near Barking train and tube station and made another call to Gulzar's mobile, also from a phone box.
The court heard that around 15 minutes later he met Gulzar in Longridge Road in Barking.
Jurors were shown police surveillence video footage of the pair walking and talking together in the busy street, Sarwar dressed a white t-shirt and dark jeans and Gulzar wearing a blue jumper and light jeans.
The two defendants were spotted at various sites around East London including the Masgid Temple mosque and an Internet cafe, the court heard.
Sarwar made another call from a telephone kiosk, this time to a mobile attributed to Ali, it is alleged.
Surveillence cameras later spotted the car with Sarwar driving and Ali in the passenger seat.
Just fifteen minutes later Ali was spotted as a passenger of another co-defendant, Arafat Khan, in his silver Kia Pride.
Just two days later on July 31 Sarwar was caught on CCTV buying items from High Wycombe shops, which were later found buried in a suitcase in King's Wood.
Sarwar, along with seven other defendents, deny conspiracy to murder and conspiracy to endanger life on an aircraft.
The trial continues.
