Museum holds a finds day for artifacts

10:52am Monday 30th July 2001

DARTFORD Borough Museum is holding a “finds day” so people can bring in objects they have unearthed over the years to be identified.

The last time the event was held at the museum on Market Street, 100 items were brought in and identified including a 17th century clay pipe, pottery and various Roman, Anglo-Saxon and medieval metal objects.

Assistant museum manager Dr Mike Still said: “What we are trying to do is log all the items bought to us on an electronic data base, and build up a computer generated pattern of Dartford's history.

“Some of the items bought in have been very unusual, and we're looking forward to the next finds day.”

Finds days are held at the museum on the first Thursday of the month. The next meeting is tomorrow (August 2). Call 01322 343555 for more information.
