This week the Third Marlow Bottom Brownies will hold a welcome back evening and have a small celebration for Fluffy Owl’s (Eileen’s) 50th birthday. Would each Brownie please take one flower to make a bouquet to give to Eileen as a gift. They don’t mind at all what sort of flower it is – it can be from your garden if you like. It should be quite an unusual bouquet!

Sunday, May 8 is the church parade and they will be reintroducing the carrying of the flag this week so the first girl to arrive will be the flagbearer. It would be nice to see as many girls as possible in full uniform.

Pull Out the Stops! This is an exciting concert involving a well-known valley musician – Jean Ashford.

It takes place at Christ Church URC, Oxford Road, Marlow SL7 2NL, on Sunday, May 15 at 7.30pm.

Tickets are £8 (including a glass of wine) from 01628 486227 (Jean Ashford), or via D&J News in West Street.

Bucks Older People’s Action Group (OPAG) have released this recent information about the fourth indicator of a stroke – to look at the tongue.

A neurologist says that if he can get to a stroke victim within three hours he can totally reverse the effects of a stroke.

A stroke should be recognized and diagnosed, and the patient must be medically cared for within those hours.

But now there is a new sign of a stroke – ask the patient to stick out their tongue.

If the tongue is ‘crooked’, if it goes to one side or the other that is also an indication.

Other, more well-known, checks include asking the individual to smile, asking the person to talk and speak a simple sentence coherently, and asking them to raise both arms.

Last year the walk raised £2,173.
