Made in Wycombe, an entrepreneurial venture established to support products and services created in Wycombe, is set to host an event this coming weekend celebrating Wycombe’s past as well as looking forward to its future. While many may be aware that the traditional furniture industry still flourishes, Wycombe also has talents to showcase in food and drink production, arts and crafts, performing arts, engineering and many more diverse products and services.

The project, which was conceived by Mike Watson, held its first event in February of last year in the form of a workshop which made clear its aims of boosting local trade and promoting local produce. The event was well attended, and included local MP Steve Baker who was keen to support such an entrepreneurial and unique venture. Following the success of the launch, various events including a Christmas Market followed, and ‘Past, Present and Future’ seems set to be a similar success. The Atrs4every1 centre in the regenerating and thriving Desborough Road retail area hosted the first two events and is the venue again this weekend.

The event will take place this weekend on Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th May from 11am to 4.30pm, and will include an art exhibition of fresh talent, a cinema showing slides and films, the Made in Wycombe shop and café where you can enjoy local produce and purchase arts and crafts, a stage for small performances along with talks and presentations throughout the day. The future of Wycombe will be explored through the ‘Blank Canvas’, where people will be invited to share their ideas, words, images to create new art work over the course of the weekend.

While it is important to recognise Wycombe’s history, it is also equally important to look to the future, and this event is the ideal way to hear about new local innovations and ideas while appreciating what Wycombe has already achieved. For local companies and organisations Made in Wycombe’s ‘Past, Present and Future’ event is a fantastic opportunity to get their message across to the local community.

There is still a chance to get involved: if you have any interesting artefacts, products to sell or just want to get involved as a volunteer, the final open day takes place tomorrow at 12pm at the Arts4Every1 centre on Desborough Road.
