BYSTANDERS seem perplexed by the unusual sight of a jockey and racehorse in the town centre in this photograph.
Taken in 1957, it shows a jockey on horseback in the year that the European Economic Community was formed and Laika the dog became the first living creature in space.
The jockey is riding past the Palace cinema, which is showing the film Giant, starring James Dean and also shows Pilot Luxury Coaches’ booking office in Frogmoor, High Wycombe.
Are you one of the people in the photo?
Maybe you recognise a friend or relative?
Do you know why the jockey was in the town centre?
If so call Mike Dewey on 01494 755 105 or 01628 525 207. Alternatively email DeweyMiked@aol.com.
