The newsroom works to daily deadlines

12:10pm Monday 14th July 2003

THE reporters type their stories into computers and send them to the newsdesk's computer basket where the news editor allocates them to a page.

The news editor refers to the advertising plan to see how much space is available for stories and pictures after the adverts have been sold.

Although the size of the newspaper is decided at the start of the week, it is not unknown for the paper to go down or up in pages only hours before printing.

The advertising department releases a certain number of pages each day so there are deadlines to meet every day, although the BFP is a weekly newspaper.
