Why do youngsters dress like vagrants?

I AM genuinely sickened by the fashion-sense of young people today. I know my generation of late middle-aged respectable citizens has always traditionally complained about what teenagers are wearing, but it's utterly ludicrous now.

I was driving through High Wycombe the other day when I spied a young girl, probably no more than 16, standing out in the street with her dad by their car.

I couldn't help but notice that her trousers appeared to be falling down, and that she was displaying a builder's backside.

I felt sorry for the poor lass, because I thought she didn't realise, but Mrs Mann assured me this was the fashion. Yes, it's fashionable to have your slacks falling off your bottom.

It suddenly dawned on me that this is why so many young men walk around showing the top of their underpants. I just assumed they were too poor to afford belts.

Whatever next? I've previously moaned on about women publicly displaying their stomachs, normally accompanied by a prominent belly-button ring. Before Mrs Mann enlightened me on that one, I just thought their tops had shrunk in the wash and they were too hard-up to replace them.

The other thing that offends me is the rose tattoo they proudly display in the small of their backs when they bend over, with their top too short and their trousers hanging off their hips.

It's all so tacky. In my day, the girls wore miniskirts which some found offensive, but at least were classy and bold. The fashion of today is based on a vagrant's wardrobe. I wonder if these people will be embarrassed in 50 years time when they show photos of themselves as youths to their grandkids.

Probably not, because by then it will be the fashion to go around totally nude, with your body covered head to toe in tattoos and piercings.
