Cigarettes stolen in off-licence ram raid

12:12pm Thursday 8th February 2001

RAM-RAIDERS smashed the window of a Croxley Green off-licence and stole cigarettes on Tuesday.

Two men stood outside Unwins in Watford Road at 4.30am while a third reversed a red Vauxhall Astra or Ford Escort through the window.

The two men used their hands to push the rest of the glass away before climbing inside, stealing a quantity of cigarettes and making off in the car within 30 seconds. The car sped off towards Scots Hill.

The incident was caught on CCTV. One man has been described as a white male wearing a cream coloured coat, dark trousers, gloves and a balaclava. One of the other man is white, male wearing dark trousers and a dark jacket.

Police are appealing to anyone in the area at the time which may have seen the car and the men in a nearby petrol station, or from anyone who has been offered cheap cigarettes.
