You're as bad as Mugabe
RE: A campaign in the Marlow Free Press asking readers to register their complaints over the bollards on Marlow Bridge which have been damaging vehicles.
I HOPE your campaign in the Marlow Free Press will also take note of those who are in favour of retaining the bollards, as I am. Unfortunately, the Free Press all too often asks for responses only from those who support the newspaper's campaign of the moment and then presents the results of such a biased survey as confirming that support.
And the British press criticises Robert Mugabe for rigging election results - what hypocrisy!

Forgive me for thinking that the comparison between the Bucks FP and Robert Mugabe is a bit extreme...

as far as a lot of Marlow residents are concerned, marlow and its pathetic little problems are the centreof the universe.
This comment by a typical marlovian, is distasteful and trivilalises a brutal regime.

Actually the Bucks FP and mugabe both seem to be short of actualling telling the truth.
The bollards are there to stop vehicles over the weight limit use the bridge. If people actually paid attention then there wouldn't be a problem.
I'm with the letter writer on this keep them! if not then they could always close the bridge.

Maybe they should line all kerbstones with broken glass to keep the sleepy sods on the road.

Don't open your mouth SMOKEY unless you know what you are talking about. It is not that people who live in Marlow think it is the centre of the universe it is that the majority care for things beautiful like the bridge. High Wycombe have destroyed the beauty of their town. What is left could not be seen as a tourist attraction. I don't live in Marlow but it is certainly worthy of its recent award of one the most beautiful towns. Stay where you are SMOKEY and enjoy the delights of High Wycombe.

I think it is a horrible little town and wish that the County council would rethink and make it part of Berkshire. Marlow a tourist attraction? Oh puleaseee

The County Council would not give up the massive rates that Marlow provide, which would mean that High Wycombe would have to pay more or reduce their services.Marlow is not a tourist attraction for residents in High Wycombe but it does feature on the international register of Beautiful Britain. With many of the finest Schools in the country around High Wycombe I am surprised that some residents don't know that.

That really is taking its self importance too far. LOL

Not on the National Curriculum but it is attractive enough for children from other European countries to stay in Marlow for a few days to see its beauty. It is not being self important it is only that others can also learn about its beauty. But it is not important for those who cannot see it.

I look at Hughenden Park - the Rye, Amersham Old town, Beaconsfield old town, some of the villages around Bucks - they all deserve press coverage. Marlow is not beautiful - I'm sorry it isn't. Or if it is, it has a self conscious beauty which is ruined by the supercilious attitudes of a lot of its residents.
So it has the Thames - well yippee do. I am sorry but Marlow and its problems has far too much coverage from the BFP. Why does Marlow warrant a 2 weekly BFP surgery for example? Why can't the other small towns in the area not be afforded the same priviledge? What exactly makes Marlow so special?

To each his own. Nobody is obliged to go to Marlow. It is only special to those that enjoy it thank goodness.I seldom buy the BFP, I prefer another local paper as it contains many fewer advertisments and I don't live in Marlow. I am concerned about the widespread abuse by van drivers who exceed the weight limit (over 150 per week)on one of the most beautiful bridges in England

If you want to see entertainment just watch the number of mothers trying to push their darling children in pushchairs down the High St. whilst carrying a (luke warm?) cup of starbucks coffee...
Hilarity always ensues...
