Eden is well worth a visit

I HAVE lived in High Wycombe over 50 years and of course remember the lovely country town of that time.

I admit that when the Eden plans were announced I had difficulty in imagining all that was planned - but now I really feel congratulations are in order to all who helped to complete the project.

Of course there will be certain aspects which may not meet with everyone's approval and there are other areas in the town which will need attention.

However I do have reservations about the choice of name. I don't feel Eden is appropriate for a Buckinghamshire country town.

I'm sure we all hope the new shopping area will be a success. Along with the presence of the Swan Theatre it has made High Wycombe a town well worth a visit.

Carlton's wrong.., Singh Stores and Raja's Cafe was in Temple End NOT Frogmore. Frogmore had Popps (and I think it was run by a different Mr Singh and his gorgeous daughter), and cafe facilities were courtesy of Presto Cafe.

back then it was all classed as frogmore, Mr Singh's shop, which if memeory serves me well was called Harry yam's shop, there was raja's cafe, no one could make kebabs like that man , shame about his son papu the drugs nearley killed him, then there was thomas dry cleaners, who now does his there trade on desbrough road. Popps was run by an other mr singh who was in fact a bit of an ****, his daughters gave him so much greif that he had to retire early, last i heard they married a couple of Gambians which of course every self respecting skih would want his daughter to do. There was also the sweet shop that rented dodgy videos next door to the dry cleaners, he now has the kebab shop on desbrough road near the rose and crown, Probably the worse kebabs in the south east. don't forget the chap who use to sell watches and other goods and finally the jewell in the crown , the red cross night. I do miss Presto cafe great grub and good prices.
