High Wycombe is a disgrace
I GO in to Eden three times a week for my work and I hate it - it's cold wet and depressing, it's a blot on the landscape, it doesn't blend in with the town at all.
Something that does make me wonder is what has happened to the water feature? It hasn't been on for the last three weeks.
Is it like the one on Frogmoor, never to work again? I walked that way today and the fountain on Frogmoor is a giant ashtray and litter collector. Come on WDC - get your finger out.
I'd like to add another comment from last year when I fell in High Wycombe and hurt myself badly. I did write a sarcastic letter to you which you printed.
I saw a solicitor and one year on have been told that Wycombe District Council does not hold themselves responsible and that the pavement as far as they are concerned is okay! Outside Lloyds bank in White Hart Street the paving there is terrible and I'd just said to my mother today "look at the state of that if you fell the council wouldn't say there was anything wrong", when we heard a thud behind us and a young woman had fallen in the very spot.
She was just shook up, but the town is a disgrace.
Julie Smith, Mill End Road, High Wycombe
Editor's note: The Eden water feature is now working again.

i think there is a huge issue with the shopping centre being so open to the elements, its not an enjoyable experience. Wycombe DC and Eden should do something about it as so many people are not happy with the centre that WE paid for!

couldn't agree more with the viewers comments. The WDC has turned the town in to a traffic nightmare, town centre is now a ghost and with the over development of housing it is turning into another Slough. Whats next more traffic lights on London road

Actually, TQWood, WE did not pay for the Eden Shopping Centre.
It was paid for by a shopping centre investment company and a bank. WDC did provide the land in exchange for a profit sharing arrangement but WDC could never have afforded to pay for the development which was hundreds of millions of pounds. WDC councillors would never have put its taxpayers to that risk!

At last Pierre, someone who talks sense on this site. WDC gave the land to the developers but that's the end of it. They don't do the traffic lights either. Bucks CC will when Multiplex eventually pass them over.

Oh, I forgot, of course WDC don't hold themselves responsible for the pavement, it's nothing to do with them. Try Bucks County Council instead. It's their path.
