Worshippers at a village church are being invited to sponsor a seat in memory of a loved one to raise money for refurbishment work.

A major rebuild of the Holy Trinity church in Prestwood is set to start later this year - but £15,000 to fund it is still needed.

Underfloor heating, better lighting and sound systems and a kitchen and toilet will all be installed during the refurbishment.

To help raise the final bit of cash needed, 100 seats are available to be sponsored as memorials in the name of loved ones.

The church's Rector, Rev Deiniol Heywood, said a total of £550,000 is needed to do the work - of which, £535,000 has already been pledged.

He said: "It's a lot for a small village but we've done very well with our fundraising. Our congregation have been very generous.

"Sponsoring a seat is a great way of leaving a legacy for a loved one."

It is hoped the work will start in July, with the church needing to close for services for the following six months to allow it take place.

In the meantime Great Hampden church, which is also in the parish and is presided over by Rev Heywood, will be able to take funeral and wedding services.
