An online petition started by a headteacher to improve the paths outside a school has gathered over 300 signatures in a week.

Nicola Raher, headteacher at Prestwood Infant School, started the petition last Tuesday to ask Bucks County Council to widen and improve the paths outside the school in Moat Lane.

The petition currently has the support of 307 people and is due to run until June 10, when it will be presented to the Local Area Forum, which decides how local area funding should be spent.

The path improvement project requires £2700 to fund a Bucks County Council Feasibility Study.

Mrs Raher told how the narrow pavements often force families to walk in the road, putting children at risk.

She said: "There is only pavement on one side of the road and at some points there is no pavement at all. With lots of parents with pushchairs and dogs and children, people end up walking in the road."
