A charity set up in memory of a Prestwood youngster is appealing for volunteers to put their best foot forward on a fundraising walk.

The Thomas Ball Children's Cancer Fund will be holding its annual Midnight Dream Walk around Prestwood and Great Missenden later this month.

Money raised from the walk will help pay for seriously ill children to have a break from their treatment and go on holiday.

The Thomas Ball charity was set up by Thomas himself as a nine-year-old in 1999, after he was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer called neuroblastoma. He died four years later, having helped to establish the charity and set up a children's holiday home in Hampshire.

This year's Midnight Dream Walk takes place on Friday, June 26, with a six mile journey beginning from the Great Missenden Memorial Centre. At the end of the walk fundraisers will be given bacon rolls, cooked for them by TGI Fridays High Wycombe.

Thomas's mum Elaine, the chairman of the charity: "We really need people to come forward this year, our funds are low and this event has the potential to raise thousands of pounds that would enable several local children who are being treated for cancer to have a UK holiday this summer or even a magical trip to Euro Disney at Christmas."

Volunteers can register for the walk by picking up a fundraising pack from the JNP Partnership in High Street, Prestwood, or contacting the charity on 01494 890157 or tomballcharity@aol.com.

Donations to the charity can also be made by texting June26 £5 to 70070 or at www.make-a-donation.org/fundraisers/the-dream-team.
