Thieves broke into homes across Chilterns and South Bucks in a three-day crime spree but fled without stealing anything after being disturbed by the people who live there.

Three men tried to break into an address in Orchehill Rise, Gerrards Cross, at around 7.30pm yesterday evening, but were disturbed by the homeowners and made off from the scene in a car.

The night before (January 5) at around 7.20pm, two men fled from a property on Hampden Road in Prestwood, after the female occupant heard a noise inside her home.

It is believed that they had got into the property through a back door, and that a third man may have been involved.

The men made off in a vehicle and nothing was stolen.

Just 24 hours before, on Monday, January 4, three men broke into a property in Ashcroft Drive, Denham Green at around 7.45pm.

After carrying out a messy search, they made off when they were disturbed by the owners returning home.

One of the men is described as 5ft 8ins, aged in his late 40s to early 50s, of slim build with a thin face.

His accomplice was slightly taller, just less than 6ft, and of stocky build.

The third man is described as 6ft, broad, with big arms and all three wore dark clothing and facial coverings.

All three of the crimes are being linked.

Det Sgt Liz Tait, of Local CID Taplow, said: “I would like to reassure all residents that a thorough investigation is underway in relation to all three incidents in order to try and arrest those responsible.

“The nature of these burglaries is unusual in terms of the suspects wearing balaclavas or face coverings.

“At this time, we have several lines of enquiries in hand. However, we would urge anyone with information to come forward as soon as possible. Any piece of information, despite how trivial it may appear, could assist our investigation.”

Det Sgt Tait can be contacted via the 24-hour Thames Valley Police enquiry centre on 101.
