A South Bucks retirement home celebrated the Queen’s birthday with a special tea party yesterday.

Staff and trustees joined with residents of the Abbeyfield Care Home in Great Missenden to share stories and celebrate the monarch's 90th birthday.

The home was filled with plenty of food and decorations as well as a special cake brought in by Nikki’s Bountiful Bakery in Holmer Green.

One of the residents who had just celebrated their own 90th birthday was chosen to cut the impressive cake.

Manager Carol Lauder-Ross said: "We all had such a fun time together as a way of celebrating.

"Half of our residents are over 90, so because of the age group they are all a part of the Queen’s lifetime.

"We decided not to send out invites to the public. We organise lots of different events that are open to them, so we wanted this to be a special celebration just for everyone in the home. Overall, it was a lovely day."
