A new £250,000 car park was officially unveiled at a popular Prestwood leisure centre at the weekend.

The new car park at Sprinters Leisure Centre in Honor End Lane was opened on the same day that the fun-filled Prestwood village games got underway.

The parking site will now provide the centre and its associated clubs with improved lighting, better drainage and safer access.

Leisure company GLL Better also made a £30,000 contribution towards the work.

Chiltern District Council chairman, cllr Mimi Harker OBE, cut the ribbon and officially declared the car park open on Saturday, August 27.

She was joined by council leader cllr Isobel Darby and Prestwood councillor Heather Wallace.

After celebrating the opening, the three councillors joined around 70 other visitors for the Prestwood village games, which included a tug-of-war, welly throwing, team ski walks, foam javelin and penalty shootout.

The aim of the games was to inspire people to get more active and celebrate the success of Team GB at the Rio Olympics.
