An internationally-renowned artist who had valuable sculptures stolen while on display has called on the community to help get them back.

Two abstract sculptures by Chesham-based artist, Charles Elliott, were taken from the Hampden Estate overnight on Tuesday.

The 6ft high pieces of art - one red and one black - have a price tag of £1,250 each and have been on display at the estate near Great Missenden since the beginning of September.

Mr Elliott is now urging the community to help him recover the distinctive statues, which were said to have been welded to large metal blocks before they were stolen by thieves.

He said: "We have sculpture on show to the public throughout the Home Counties and London, this is the first time someone has even attempted to steal our work.

"We hope the community enjoy seeing our work and will help us track these down."

The sculptor says police have been informed, and anyone with information about the statues can call 101 or contact Elliott’s directly on 01494758896 or anonymously online at www.elliottoflondon.co.uk.
